A previous renovation had opened the kitchen to the enclosed back porch, leaving an oppressive soffit, five feet wide and 42" high, dividing the two spaces. Our straightforward solution was to simply widen the opening and remove the soffit, allowing the two spaces to flow together.  A new french door opens onto a new backyard deck.  The project also includes a built-in seat with storage cabinets and excavation of the basement area beneath the porch.
