Book Collecting
- We
are avid collectors of out-of-print and rare books on architecture.
Our collection includes a broad range of topics including
design and architectural history and have several subcollections
focusing on Chicago Architecture, Architect-Authors, Skyscrapers,
and early construction technology. From time to time
we will post specific titles we are searching for.
Travel Journals
- We
enjoy producing a small travel journal during each of our trips
abroad. These sketchbooks consist of a series of collages
that document our journeys using images, materials and found-objects
that we encounter. Although they are sometimes elaborate,
we have found that assembling these collage books is a relaxing
and rewarding activity. We now have books from France,
Portugal, Ecuador and Ireland.
Public Lectures
- In
addition to guest lectures and critiques given at the University
of Illinois, Scott Rappe has given lectures at the Chicago Architecture
Foundation. Talks on Chicago Union Station and the Field
Building
were offered in connection with the 125th anniversary celebration
of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White.
